Tofo is the cult dive town — whale sharks, mantas, octopus, the whole reef alphabet. Stay in a beach camp or a small lodge, dive in the morning, sleep through the afternoon, eat fresh fish by the fire. A short drive away, Barra is the gentler counterpart — dunes, lagoons, palms. Inhambane city, with its sleepy waterfront and Portuguese-era cathedral, sits between.

Day 1 · Maputo → Inhambane
Short flight up the coast or overland drive (6–7h). Settle in Tofo.

Day 2–3 · Tofo
Two days of diving, snorkelling or just swimming with whale sharks if in season. Sundowners at Dino's.

Day 4 · Barra & Inhambane city
Quieter beach morning at Barra; afternoon walk through Inhambane's old town and cathedral.

Day 5 · Return
Flight or drive back. Optional southbound extension to Zavora/Pomene for the truly off-grid.
