Maputo + Inhaca + Maputo National Park + the wild Pontas. The cleanest introduction to southern Mozambique.
Overview
Start in Maputo — markets, the fish market, art, jazz, Marrabenta and one or two good seafood evenings. Boat to Inhaca for a day in turquoise. Drive south into Maputo National Park, where elephants come down to the beach in the late afternoon. Push further south on the dirt road and the Pontas open one after the other — diving in do Ouro, stillness in Mamoli, the long walking beach to Membene. Return overland or hop a flight.

Day 1 · Maputo
Arrival, settle, evening walk through Baixa, dinner overlooking the bay.

Day 2 · Maputo deeper
Art, architecture, the fish market, Marrabenta in a small venue at night.

Day 3 · Inhaca
Ninety-minute boat across the bay. Beach, lighthouse, lunch at Sangala, back to Maputo at sunset.

Day 4–5 · Maputo National Park
Drive south. Game drives among elephants, hippos and shy lion. One night at Anvil Bay or similar — elephants walk past the camp at dusk.

Day 6–7 · The Pontas
Ponta do Ouro for diving and dolphin swims, or Mamoli for stillness. End with a long walk along the beach.
